Sage 300 CRE Desktop Crashes When Using Remote Desktop Services

Symptom

After logging in to RDS and launching Sage Desktop, you are able to login to sage and select the company.
During the load, Sage Desktop crashes with the following error:  "An error occurred. Close and then re-open Sage Desktop.  See the log for details."


Cause

The root cause is unknown as of 1/23/2024 however this issue did not exist in version 22.
The location of the cause is confirmed to occur while loading web pages during startup.

Resolution

Disable the web page tabs at startup and save them as the new startup configuration by following the steps below.
  1. Login as an affected user on the Terminal Server.
  2. Launch Sage Desktop, Login, and then Select Company
  3. Close all of the open web page tabs.
  4. Select Options -> Save Configuration As
  5. Name the configuration NoTabs.dskx
  6. Select Options -> Desktop Settings
  7. Uncheck Display Sage Support Page
  8. Uncheck Display Sage Construction Project Center Page
  9. Uncheck Display Sage Services Operations Page
  10. Set the "Default Desktop  Configuration" to NoTabs.dskx by clicking on the "Current" button.
  11. Click Save
  12. Verify settings store by selecting Options -> Save Configuration
  13. Close Sage Desktop
  14. Logout of the terminal server session.
  15. Attempt to launch and login to Sage 300 using remote desktop services.
